Quatre Bouches Quatre Bouches was formed in 2005. Its four singers are active as soloists, chamber musicians and/or ensemble singers at home and abroad.The quartet has collaborated with various pianists, including Dante Boon, Daniël Kramer and Mirsa Adami, and has participated in workshops given by Hein Meens, Claron McFadden and Marcel Reijans.Quatre Bouches focusses on a pleasant, appealing and sometimes humorous programming, which places particular emphasis on the music of the 19th, 20th and 21st centuries. Experiments with other art forms are also not shunned.They have presented their chamber music programmes in such locations as the Bible Museum, Cristofori and the Goethe Institute (all in Amsterdam), as well as in the small hall of Vredenburg in Utrecht. They have also been guests at various festivals, such as the Chamber Music Festival in Hoorn and the International Gelderland Summer of Music. In 2008 the quartet sang the world première of Nul, plaattektoniek, WC by Ruben Naeff at the presentation of the book Bètacanon to Ronald Plasterk, Minister of Education, Culture and Science. A CD of this piece has since been released. The quartet is also active in the area of music theatre. In January 2009, in a Tros production in cooperation with the Netherlands Radio Chamber Philharmonic, the quartet was responsible for performing the ensemble pieces in the opera Abu Hassan in Vredenburg Leidsche Rijn in Utrecht. And on 29 April 2009 Quatre Bouches performed the world première of the opera Dichtertje (based on the novella of the same name by the Dutch writer Nescio) by composer Harke Jan van der Meulen, in the context of Opera op straat (Opera in the streets.) Further performances of Dichtertje are to follow next season. Quatre Bouches may also be engaged as a solo quartet for oratorio and concerts. In this guise they have appeared in Requiem (W. A. Mozart), Messiah (G. F. Handel), Elijah (F.Mendelssohn) and in various Bach cantatas. In the 2009/2010 season they are due to appear in both the Christmas Oratorio and the B-Minor Mass by Johann Sebastian Bach.
